WellStone Pediatric Ribbon-Cutting
Council Member Kling was honored to attend the ribbon-cutting for the WellStone Pediatric Crisis Care Center, the state’s first 24/7 mental health crisis center for children ages 12-18. The facility is 12,000 square feet with 24 beds and is a critical piece of WellStone’s mental health emergency infrastructure.
South Star Music Festival
The inaugural South Star Music Festival, unfortunately curtailed due to continuous rain from Hurricane Helene, proved Huntsville is a growing music city with unlimited potential. The City of Huntsville also stepped up to make the festival a success. Thank you to City departments that worked together on driving, parking, transportation and safety as well as cleaning up after the festival ended. The City will be making planned improvements to the festival site following cleanup.
State of the City Address
Congratulations to Mayor Tommy Battle for casting a spotlight on all Huntsville has to offer during his annual State of the City address. More than 1,200 people attended the sold-out luncheon at the Von Braun Center as Mayor Battle discussed milestones during his administration and outlining his vision for the City going forward. He also announced plans to work with Huntsville Utilities to build a 200-megawatt solar power plant on 800 acres near the Tennessee River to help secure Huntsville’s power grid. The Vibration of Innovation video played during the speech was a huge hit.
