9 Month Teaching Instructor Position – Recreation Sciences – East Carolina University

East Carolina University seeks an individual for a nine-month, fixed-term Teaching Instructor with experience in Sport Management and/or Community Recreation in the Department of Recreation Sciences (RCSC) within the College of Health and Human Performance for an August 2024 start date.

Duties include teaching within the shared core classes in Sport, Recreation, and Park Management; Contributing to the advancement and promotion of the undergraduate program in Recreation and Park Management; Supervising student field experiences; and mentoring students on academic procedures and career goals.

Expectations include delivery of instruction and mentoring with a learner-centered approach; curriculum leadership; and providing meaningful service to the University, community, and profession. PhD Graduate Research Assistant Position – Environmental/Climate Justice, Political Ecology, Black Geographies, & Climate Change Resilience in the Mississippi Delta – University of South Carolina

The areas of interest of the prospective student should align with the fields of environmental justice, climate justice, political ecology, Black Geographies, and/or climate change resilience. While the primary responsibilities and duties will be supervised at the University of South Carolina in the Department of Geography, the individual will gain valuable experience working with an interdisciplinary team of faculty from the University of South Carolina, Mississippi State University, and Mississippi Valley State University as well as several community organizations on tasks related to investigating resilience to climate change in the Yazoo-Mississippi Delta on topics related to flood risk, agricultural sustainability, and other community identified areas of interest.

Manager of Science Literacy and Research

Instructor – Tourism, Recreation, and Adventure Leadership – Oregon State University-Cascades

Oregon State University – Cascades in Bend, Oregon invites applications for a full time (1.0 FTE), 9-month Instructor Position to teach in the Tourism, Recreation, and Adventure Leadership (TRAL). Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean.

The successful candidate will be responsible for instruction in all levels of the TRAL program. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to a re-envisioned TRAL curriculum and activities, with the potential to develop and teach new courses. The candidate should provide evidence of successfully employing innovative pedagogical techniques and technologies in the classroom and in the field. The successful candidate will promote diversity through their pedagogy and student mentoring, as well as collaborate with OSU-Cascades in interdisciplinary community outreach efforts. INTERNSHIP Opportunities

Sports Broadcast Operations Intern (Summer 2024) – Durham, NC

SportsMEDIA Technology (SMT) Durham-based operations team supports sports broadcast all across North America, in a variety of ways. The scope of this department includes help desk technical support for clients utilizing our technology, our travel team’s on-site operation of our broadcast technology and our recent addition of a remote production studio at our HQ.

The Sports Broadcast Operations Intern will be exposed to all elements of our operations department. This includes the completion of SMT’s internal Certification Training program, traveling to support at least 1 remote event and supporting events from our remote production studio. Interns will work directly with the managers of these teams throughout the course of their internship, as well as completing a system build as their final project.

This is an on-site summer internship, averaging 35-40 hours a week. Pay for this internship is $10/hour. Interns will report to our Durham Director of Operations.

Teacher Naturalist Intern – Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont

Job Type: Paid Internship

Location: Townsend, TN

Compensation: Starting salary $350/week, plus meals and lodging. On-site housing provided with monthly utilities paid by the Institute. Paid professional development including First Aid and Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.

Graphic Design and Content Intern – The Basketball Tournament

We are in search of interns to help out with Graphic Design and Content for The Basketball Tournament. An overview of what each internship track includes (but is not limited to) is provided below:

  • Team roster and player commitment graphics for TBT teams and athletes

Summer Recreation Intern ( May- August 2024) – OBX- KOA, Coinjock, NC, US

The Recreation Intern is responsible for ensuring our guests have fun through the development and implementation of theme weekends, special events and dynamic recreation and leisure offerings. Obviously, each day in the recreational field is not the same as the previous but that is what makes this job interesting and FUN! Natural Resource Management Assistant Intern – Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Michigan

The SIP Intern will support PIRO in revising their wilderness character “building blocks” and conducting the baseline assessment. Wilderness Character is defined as a holistic concept based on the interaction of (1) biophysical environments primarily free from modern human manipulation and impacts, (2) personal experiences in natural environments relatively free from the encumbrances of modern society, and (3) symbolic meanings of humility, restraint, and interdependence that inspire human connection with nature. Taken together, these tangible and intangible values define wilderness character and distinguish wilderness from all other lands. In 2009, The Beaver Basin Wilderness was formally designated within PIRO. The 11,740 acre Beaver Basin Wilderness includes 13 miles of Lake Superior shoreline, three lakes, five streams, abundant wildlife, and many other natural features.

IDEAL Summer Internship – Internship for Diverse Emerging Arts Leaders – Wake County

IDEAL is a summer internship from United Arts that places undergraduate students from backgrounds underrepresented in arts leadership with host arts organizations in Wake County and pairs them with local mentors to guide the students’ personal and professional growth throughout the summer.

The pathway to leadership positions at the highest level in the arts sector is not always clear. The IDEAL eight-week internship will help students gain skills, networks, and experience that will prepare them for leadership roles after they graduate.

The 2024 IDEAL summer internship program will run from June 3 through August 2 and includes:

  • $4,500 pre-tax stipend per intern
  • Work placement at an Arts Host organization in Wake County for 24 hours per week for 8 weeks
  • Additional professional development opportunities, cultural activities, and networking events
  • Individualized mentor pairing in interns’ arts-specific field of interest
  • A local cohort that will serve as a strong foundation for interns’ growing careers

Community Recreation Interns – Winston-Salem, NC

Under immediate supervision, the Playfield Leader for Camp WePLAY is responsible for assisting with implementing day camp programs and activities for 5 – 12 year olds at a recreational facility; does related work as required.

Seasonal position (12 weeks) from June to mid-August, up to 40 hours per week. Typical hours are between 7 am and 6 pm, Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends
