Provost shares her insights with Thrive!

The Thrive! Professional Development and Networking Committee recently hosted a lively conversation with Provost Marie Lynn Miranda, the first woman and first person of color to serve in the position.

She shared meaningful moments from her professional and personal journey, tips for reasonably sane working parents, and her plans to make Notre Dame a more diverse and inclusive place.

Jessica Brice
Name: Rachel Mendez
Title: Graduate Coordinator, Department of Mathematics
What's an accomplishment you're most proud of?
The accomplishment I'm most proud of is probably finishing my degree when I had 2 small children and my husband worked lots of crazy hours.
I had 2 years of college under my belt when I took a 6-year break, got married, and had 2 kids. After all that, I went back to finish when my kids were ages 1 and 3. My husband worked 12-hour days—all but 2 days out of each month—so we hardly ever saw each other!
I finished in 3 years and graduated cum laude and as a member of the Psi Chi International Honor Society. It was a lot of hard work, but I’m grateful for all of it!
