CCAS GRADUATION CAP DESIGN CONTEST
Looking forward to graduation? Each year, many new graduates show their excitement, gratitude and creativity by decorating their caps.
This year, CCAS wants you to snap a picture of your cap and post it on Instagram or Twitter with #CCASOnward for a chance to win a $25 gift card and GW swag.

APPLY FOR THE YOUTH AMBASSADORS SUMMER PROGRAM
Join the Loeb Institute for Religious Freedom at the George Washington University for the International Religious Freedom Youth Ambassadors Program.
Participants will study the history and philosophy of religious freedom, meet with policymakers and activists from around the world, and attend sessions of the International Religious Freedom Ministerial sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.

APPLY FOR A JOURNALISM BOOTCAMP IN PRAGUE
The Bakala Foundation will host an intensive 10-day summer course to give aspiring journalists real-world training with lectures and exercises under the supervision of journalists from leading international news organizations.
All selected students will receive a full scholarship to participate in the program which will run from August 3 – 13 in Prague, Czech Republic.

SUBMIT AN ABSTRACT FOR THE PARTNERSHIP FOR PROGRESS AND THE DIGITAL DIVIDE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
PPDD 2019 invites work that informs issues related to the digital divide broadly defined, the nature of life in the digital age, the many challenges and opportunities of information and communication technologies, or the interplay of influence between technological and social change.
Submit your 250-word abstract to present your work at PPDD 2019.

SAJA SCHOLARSHIPS AND INTERNSHIP FUNDS NOW OPE
The South Asian Journalists Association (SAJA) offers scholarship and internship funds for undergraduate and graduate-level students interested in South Asia to pursue their journalistic education.

NLGJA SCHOLARSHIPS AND MENTORSHIP PROGRAMS
The NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists offers several mentorship programs and scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 for LGBTQ students majoring in journalism or mass communication.

PEOPLEGROVE SCHOLARSHIP FOR ESSAYS ON MENTORSHIP
PeopleGrove offers $2,000 scholarships for full-time students who reflect on the importance of mentorship in their education or how they plan to be a future role model for the next generation of students.
JULY 1
HUB FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Hub Foundation awards up to 15 scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $20,000 to support research that focuses on or includes Islam and Muslim voices or perspectives. Their goal is to help develop future scholars, teachers and leaders who can contribute to cross-cultural understanding and improving foreign and domestic relations.

Brittany Shepherd, B.A. ‘16, is joining Yahoo News as a national politics reporter and will cover the intersection of culture and politics during the 2020 campaign. While at GW, Shepherd was a member of Phi Sigma Sigma and the GW chapter of the Association of Black Journalists.

The American Film Institute is hosting a free screening of Knock Down the House, which follows four extraordinary women  Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Amy Vilela, Cori Bush and Paula Jean Swearengin  who take on the political establishment by mounting grassroots campaigns for Congress.
A Q&A will follow with filmmaker Rachel Lears, moderated by GW alumna and NBC News Capitol Hill Correspondent Kasie Hunt.

THE 2019 BBC REITH LECTURES: JONATHAN SUMPTION 
Until recently, Jonathan Sumption served as a justice on the UK Supreme Court. In his lecture, Rights and the Ideal Constitution, Jonathan compares the U.S. and UK constitutional models and asks whether we should determine rights through politics or in the courts.
The lecture includes a Q&A session and will be recorded for broadcast on BBC Radio.
