STAY IN CONTROL WITH YOUR PRODUCE
A Cyclospora outbreak may sound scary, but you can still enjoy the fresh fruits and vegetables you love. The key is to stay recall-savvy and follow a few simple food-safety steps.
The current FDA investigation involves recalled iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico. Before serving lettuce, check the FDA recall notice for affected products and dates—and never eat recalled items.
Keep fresh produce safely on your plate:
- Wash hands before handling produce.
- Rinse all fruits and vegetables under running water—even pre-washed items.
- Scrub firm produce and trim away bruised spots.
- Use clean cutting boards and utensils.
- Cook produce to 158°F when possible.
Fresh, colorful produce is still a wonderful part of a healthy diet. A few smart steps help you enjoy every bite with confidence!
