Dear Student,
If you’ve been on campus recently, you may have noticed that some of the modular units (i.e., “mods”) that were located on the tennis courts last year were removed. This happened early this summer in light of the improving COVID outlook at the time. However, connections for utilities were maintained on the site to allow the university to set up new modular units if and when health conditions warranted their addition.
During the increase in positive cases among our student population a few weeks ago, we decided as a precautionary measure to add a third unit to the two that were remaining. The additional mod should arrive on campus sometime this week and will be operational a few weeks after that, enabling the university to safely house 44 more students in isolation or awaiting test results, if ever needed. This will bring the total number of available beds in the mods to 132. Fortunately, we have seen the number of positive cases among our community decline recently. We hope this trend continues, and we won’t need to use the additional mod.
Thank you for your continued observance of the university’s COVID policies and protocols and for making good choices so we can all stay healthy.
Sincerely yours,
Michael R. Jordan, M.D., M.P.H.
