The University of Virginia and the City of Charlottesville became the site of heart-wrenching violence this weekend. As president of Miami University, I ask our extended community to stand with me in unison with the students, faculty, staff, alumni and community of UVA in decrying violence and hate. There is no tolerance for such behavior on our campuses.
We stand in "Love and Honor"; it is not just a motto. It is a firm statement of our values, beliefs, and unequivocal condemnation of hatred, racism, bigotry, violence, intimidation, and any other attempt to divide us. Our hearts and support are with the University of Virginia and the City of Charlottesville.
