The event was an opportunity for property owners within our 14-square-mile CID to gain detailed insight into our initiatives, security measures and projects as well as the local market and legislative trends directly affecting businesses and updates in the district. Mobility and Road Improvements Update
Construction of the Dawson Boulevard sidewalk is officially complete! In 2017, the Gwinnett County Transportation Citizens Project Selection Committee (CPSC) rated this the most-needed sidewalk in the county, and Gateway85 CID is proud to celebrate the walkway's completion, which connects local multifamily communities to nearby businesses.
This ongoing project has been completed in segments over the past several years. At completion, the full sidewalk is just over two miles long and runs from the DeKalb County line to Jimmy Carter Boulevard.
To continue this successful momentum, the CID team is building out a new CID-wide pedestrian safety and sidewalk plan to support the next wave of sidewalk improvements. As part of this endeavor, Gateway85 CID is partnering with Gwinnett County on a multi-million-dollar federal grant application, entitled "Reconnecting Communities," to help better connect neighborhoods and commercial areas on both sides of I-85.
In addition, the installation of eight new medians along Jimmy Carter Boulevard is in progress. These new medians located between Buford Highway and Brook Hollow Parkway will not only improve traffic flow but also beautify our primary artery through the district. The medians are projected to be completed at the close of 2023 with plantings scheduled for next spring.

Come 2024, improvements to our major access roads will continue to the access ramps to I-85 on Jimmy Carter Boulevard.

Special Projects Update: Indian Trail Park and Ride and Traffic Studies
The County and CID are partnering on multiple projects in our district, including applications for a federal grant to develop plans for transit-oriented development around the Indian Trail Park and Ride. Additionally, as part of its updated Master Plan, Gwinnett County is conducting a series of micro-planning projects and is working with the CID on a community “charrette” process around the Oakbrook Parkway area. Stay tuned for more information and developments.
Did you know the Jimmy Carter Boulevard area has some of the most significant freight traffic in the entire Atlanta metro area? This supports the vibrant logistics and manufacturing industries in southwest Gwinnett, which are major economic drivers for the region. To support these industries, the Gateway85 CID is implementing transportation improvements developed from the CID’s freight cluster study in partnership with Gwinnett County.
Together, the county and CID are embarking on a series of major traffic studies to plan for the replacement and redesign of the Jimmy Carter Boulevard Interchange and to build out future improvements to freight movement. These studies focus on improving the I-85 corridor from Jimmy Carter Boulevard south to I-285 while protecting existing neighborhoods and commercial centers, including pedestrian traffic.
Last, the Gateway85 CID continues to encourage property owners to take advantage of the Georgia Power Make Ready Infrastructure program – a significant grant to property owners of up to $250,000 to support installation of EV charging infrastructure.
As an added incentive, new tax credits are available for commercial buyers of qualifying electric vehicles and EV charging installation as part of the Inflation Reduction Act. The maximum credit is $7,500 for qualified vehicles, and many states also offer additional rebates and incentives. Learn more about what vehicles and initiatives qualify here.

Event Recap: Boy With A Ball Pipeline Job Fair
On September 16, 18 businesses and community organizations welcomed 120 job seekers to Boy With A Ball’s first Pipeline Career Program Job Fair in Norcross.

Finally, the young man who helped inspire the formation of Pipeline met with a plumbing company and received an employment offer days later.
When purpose and connection meet like they did at the Pipeline Job Fair, anything is possible. Work has the power to transform individual lives, families and communities. It can be an expression of who we are, catalyze innovation, social change and allow communities to flourish.
