October 1, 2022
Dear Cathedral Family,
The fall season has arrived with all its pumpkin splendor. We know the colorful explosion of autumn is coming because the cycles of creation are reliable and predictable. God’s grand plan and intelligent design are affirmed once again.
In a recent family group chat, a relative of mine went on a bit about how busy she was and, therefore, she would miss an upcoming event. I thought to myself, well, of course, she is busy. We ALL are busy!
As a Catholic Holy Cross learning institution, we are seriously committed to being the best we can be today with an eye always on tomorrow. The growth you’ve experienced across our campus this year is intentional and by design. We are also committed to modeling goodness/wellness, which means (to us) that, amidst all of our busyness, we still find time to unplug, breathe in the fresh air, and begin each day with gratitude. Prayer and deep breathing may not make us any less busy, but they can put it all in a new perspective and help us appreciate our activities and commitments. With that being said, I am happy to share with you the following:
Our enrollment strategy is purposefully designed to recruit families like you who want to be committed to this specific mission and community, to educate our students' hearts and minds, transform them, and prepare them for the world and heaven.
Our personnel strategy is purposefully designed to sustain a team of incredibly gifted educators who are passionate about this calling and genuinely love the people and the work; educators who are kind, collaborative, innovative, zealous for their faith, engaged, joyful, and exceptional at their job.
Our school culture is purposefully designed to maximize the growth of students in a safe yet challenging environment that elevates their vision and possibilities.
Our facilities are purposefully designed to enable the connections and experiences crucial to the curriculum and our fellowship, and they never look better than right now!
Our recent National Blue Ribbon award, our fourth, makes us the state’s only four-time high school recipient. This is the result of a lot of hard work and preparation and is a true reflection of the growth our students while on the Hill.
Our current Strategic Plan was also purposefully designed. I am excited to share with you the progress we have made thus far in year two of our five-year plan, highlighted by completing the Facilities Master Plan. I will share more with you next month on the plans for the coming years. However, I can tell you now that the top priority is a new wellness center and weight room facility, an innovation lab and studio space for our performing arts, and new athletic fields at Brunette Park. And, of course, we are always looking to build our endowment to help ensure our financial viability for decades to come. This is all on top of the Johnny Mac Coffeehouse, which is under construction and should be ready to go when the cold winds of January blow.
Until then, enjoy the terrific fall display of color and beauty, a gift from God to all of us living in this part of the world.
Humbly and sincerely,
Rob Bridges, PhD Cathedral High School President
PS: Please look for a short survey this month, as we want to listen to you and your feedback as we plan and move forward.
