We are honored to have our Chief of General Pediatrics, Dr. Gigi Chawla, featured on the cover of the Mpls.St.Paul Magazine 2021 Top Doctors issue. This is the second time Dr. Chawla has received this honor. In the accompanying feature story, Dr. Chawla talks about how pediatrics has evolved throughout her 20 years of practice, including vaccination recommendations, the importance of early childhood development, and the increasing recognition of and discussion about disparities in primary care. Children’s Minnesota is pleased to announce Dr. Susan Kearney as the new medical director of the Cancer and Blood Disorders Program as of July 1, 2021.
ENT and Facial Plastics: Improved phone operations and scheduling
To better serve you and your patients the ENT and facial plastics team is pleased to announce improved front-office functions, including more efficient phone service, expedited scheduling, and increased access to our providers:
  • More and dedicated staff to support phones and scheduling.
  • Improved scheduling tools that help us get your patients scheduled
with the right providers at the right time with the right information.
We are also proud to offer services from our team’s five advanced practice
providers (APPs). Like their physician colleagues, our ENT APPs are
specialty-trained clinicians who provide a broad range of ENT care along
with additional training in several niche service lines. Our APPs have daily
clinics at all four of our clinic locations and offer same-day/next-day
appointments for patients with urgent needs. Call Children's Minnesota Physician Access at 866-755-2121 to refer a patient now.
RSV guideline available
We are seeing more patients than normal with bronchiolitis this summer season, with many cases being caused by RSV. Children's Minnesota has a clinical bronchiolitis guideline, developed in collaboration with a large multidisciplinary team of local experts. Even though we're not used to seeing bronchiolitis in the summer, the same recommendations apply! Perform a thorough history and physical exam, keeping your differential diagnosis open. Once the clinical diagnosis of bronchiolitis is made, further tests or treatments (including testing for RSV) are not recommended in most cases.
