VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
Warm Hearth Village thrives because of the dedication and generosity of its resident volunteers. These individuals share their time and talents to make our community a more welcoming, beautiful and environmentally responsible place to call home. Their efforts often go unseen, but their impact is felt across campus.
On March 1, eight Warm Hearth Village residents joined 28 volunteers from the Virginia Tech Chi Delta Alpha sorority, contributing 74 hours of service to clean and maintain the wooded trails on campus. Volunteers worked together to clean benches and signs, blaze trails, rake leaves and clear debris, ensuring that residents can continue to enjoy these natural spaces.
A heartfelt thank you to the Chi Delta Alpha volunteers and their parents, as well as Warm Hearth residents Jack Onufrak, Randi Lemmon, Ken and Ann Winans, Greg Urbinati, Glenn Freeman and Marti Snyder for their hard work. A special thanks to Jack Onufrak and Rylee Whitt for organizing this successful event!

START SPRING WITH A BOOST OF NUTRITION
Spring brings sunshine and a fresh variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables. Eating produce that is in season isn’t just a great way to enjoy richer flavors—it can also be more affordable and packed with nutrients.
Spinach is loaded with vitamins A and K, which support eye and bone health. Try adding it to omelets, salads, or pasta or puree it into sauces, soups or meatballs for a hidden nutrient boost.
Beets are full of fiber and folate, making them a great addition to your diet. If their earthy flavor isn’t your favorite, try roasting, blending into soups or adding to sauces for a milder taste.
Strawberries are in season and bursting with vitamin C to help boost immunity. Enjoy them on their own, in smoothies or as a topping for yogurt and salads.
Asparagus is another springtime favorite. Roast it in the oven with olive oil, salt and pepper for a simple and delicious side dish. With so many varieties, you’re sure to find one you love.
This month, challenge yourself to add one new vegetable to your meals each week—small changes lead to big health benefits.
