Grayson Kirk Lecture: Raj Patel |
Raj Patel | Tuesday, April 8 4:30pm | Taylor Auditorium (FSB 1000)
"The World Food Made"
The number of hungry people in the US, and worldwide, is soaring, as is the number of people suffering diet-related disease. The food system is a source for new pandemics. It's driving climate change and a victim of climate disasters. This talk explains how this is all connected, and the task ahead if we're going to change it.
Raj Patel, film-maker, author, and scholar, will be delivering this year's Grayson Kirk Distinguished Lecture. His work examines the intersections between food, politics, and society in ground-breaking ways. Among his recent publications are Inflamed: Deep Medicine and the Anatomy of Injustice (2021, co-authored with Rupa Marya) and A History of the World in Seven Cheap Things: Capitalism, Nature, and the Future of the Planet (2017, co-authored with Jason W. Moore).
Save the date for this engaging presentation.
