Reggie Powell Sweetens the Day for Passengers
Sometimes travel plans go awry, but Hudson News' Reggie Powell (he/him) knows that even if "that's the way the cookie crumbles," a cookie could still improve the day. A passenger sent in the following comment about their recent experience:
“I wanted to recognize Reggie at Hudson News as someone who went above and beyond with his kindness.
During our interaction, we shared that our flight had been cancelled and we had been at the airport for nearly an entire day. Reggie empathized with our situation and immediately called his manager to ask if he could offer us with some provisions.
Following the conversation, he said that we could pick up a large cookie of our choice on the house. He continued to check in on us all the way until we were getting ready to board. He really cared about our situation and wanted to do something to help make our difficult day better.”

Sunflower Lanyards: Making the Invisible Visible
This October, as we acknowledge Disability Employment Awareness month, take a moment to refresh your knowledge of the sunflower lanyard program at PDX. The green sunflower lanyard has one simple purpose: It indicates that the person wearing it – or someone with them – has a hidden disability and that they may need additional support. There's also a white "proud to support" lanyard. Have you seen a fellow PDX employee with one on? The lanyard isn't just for passengers, you can wear one, too – send us an email if you'd like your own. Take some time to learn more about the program, hidden disabilities and how you can help make our airport more inclusive and welcoming to all travelers.

Alaska Airlines Honors Customer Service Award Winners
Alaska Airlines, and their regional partner, Horizon Air, recently celebrated Customer Service Week. Check out the Alaska blog to read about the employees  including several Portland-based PDX People – who take customer service to the next level.
We asked Mike Stanley, Alaska Airlines' Portland Director of Guest Services, Station Operations, for his thoughts on the stellar customer service provided by Alaska and Horizon's PDX People:
"Our people are the reason we've been around and thrived for the last 90 years. It’s the remarkable, selfless care they show every day that has earned us unprecedented loyalty among our guests, not to mention a plethora of awards for the airline. I am so proud of the Portland team and how they go above and beyond every day. I always tell people, 'If you think you have seen it all wait until tomorrow.' The things the Alaska and Horizon team do for guests never ceases to amaze and impress me."
