Michelle Hokenson
Michelle Hokenson Jump Starts Into Action for Travelers
Michelle Hokenson with SP Plus Corporation was nominated by a PDX traveler.
"I requested a jump start for my car at 11 p.m., but no one arrived within the 20-minute window I was quoted. When I called back, the support person explained there had been a miscommunication, and that the maintenance person wouldn’t arrive for another hour and a half to two hours.
When Michelle showed up at 12:45 a.m. to jump start my car, I wasn’t expecting her – I had already called roadside assistance. But she arrived before they did and got my car started. She mentioned she was called in from home!
I’m not sure what went wrong on the parking support side, but I truly appreciate Michelle going above and beyond by coming in from home to help me. She did so with kindness and respect, and I’m incredibly grateful for her assistance. She’s awesome!"

Convenience Retail on Concourse C
What's New with PDX Next: Vehicle Service Road and Upper Roadway Impacts, D/E Bypass Closure, Concession Updates
Vehicle Service Road: Now through April, if you drive on the south side of the terminal building between Gate C5 and the southeast cargo ramp, be aware that larger than normal vehicles moving construction debris will be present on Vehicle Service Road throughout the day. Gate SC11 will be open and staffed by security guard.
Upper Roadway: Expect impacts on the north end of the upper roadway on Tuesday, March 3, from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tree deliveries to the north node construction area require closure of the upper road north sidewalk and narrowing to two travel lanes.
North Bypass: As a reminder, the North Bypass closes on Thursday, March 5, and shorter walks to Concourse E return. Temporary signage and extra staff will help guide travelers every step of the way. Take a look at this map for a quick visual of what’s changing
When the D/E bypass closes, there will be a few other notable impacts: The closure area adjacent to Gate D5 will expand, the CRDC/Bradford parking location shifts to the alley, egress Stair 1 by Grassa closes, and the International Bus Stop by Gate E3 will have an altered drive and parking pattern.
New Convenience Retail: In case you missed it, Eastbank Market (Concourse C) and Washington Park (Concourse D) are now open...and there are a few things that make these new spaces stand out. From the creative chefs behind Portland favorite Ya Hala Lebanese Cuisine, look for Barbur Foods products including fresh falafel wraps. You'll also see a rotating My People’s Market showcase inside Eastbank Market. Stay tuned for more changes as our convenience retail program evolves to reflect the best of the Pacific Northwest and keep more money in local pockets.

Spread the Word: Take Our ADA Survey
As someone who spends time at PDX – whether as an employee or as a traveler – and may have friends and family who also move through our spaces: we’d love to hear...what’s working well? Where could we do better? How can we grow?
As part of a comprehensive ADA self-evaluation, we’re taking a deeper look at our airport facilities, parking garages, and rental car areas. That means reviewing not just physical spaces, but also our policies, procedures, and the everyday details that shape peoples' time with us. Your voice will help us improve accessibility and ensure our spaces serve everyone with care and dignity – weigh in by Wednesday, March 18.

Donation Collection for Federal Employees at PDX
To help keep daily airport operations running smoothly, some federal workers employed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, including hundreds of TSA officers at PDX, are designated as essential and continue to work without pay during the partial government shutdown.
To show our deep appreciation for those impacted at the airport, we placed donation bins near the PDX stadium stairs. Items including non-perishable food, household essentials, and gift cards for $25 or less can be dropped off at any time throughout the duration of the shutdown – see the calendar listing for everything that can and cannot be accepted. When enough donations have been collected, we’ll open the pantry for distribution.

PDX in Pictures
Watch as this new artwork gets installed at the airport. Created by Dyani White Hawk (Sičáŋǧu Lakota), this 55-foot glass and stone mosaic draws on Indigenous beadwork and weaving traditions to create an abstract view of Mount Hood and is meant to honor the connection between land, sky, and community. Located along the south exit route, Dyani's piece will welcome travelers as part of the new PDX made to reflect the region and the communities that shape it.
