CALS Connections: A First Year Mentor Program
CALS Connections brings undergraduate students in our college, new and seasoned, together through on-campus mentorship! Powered by Mentor Collective, an international online mentoring community, CALS Connections matches new students with current, trained, undergraduate student mentors.
- The goal? Connecting you with someone who's been where you are now and who has common interests, academics, professional aspirations, background, and more.
- The method? Mentees/mentors meet up via text, chat, or at CALS events.
- How often? That's up to you and your mentor! You can rely on your mentor for them to help out whenever you need it.
- How long? Mentorship matches are made in August. The mentorship connection lasts for your entire first year (fall and spring semester), ensuring you have peer guidance as you're becoming a pro at student life!

Fall 2020: How to Know Your Dates & Deadlines
Within each semester courses are convened in a variety of different sessions. The most common is "Regular Academic Session" which means classes convene during the entire 16 week semester. Five additional sessions - where classes convene only five or seven weeks - are also offered.
Fall 2020 Sessions
- Regular Academic Session
- 5 Week First
- 5 Week Second
- 5 Week Third
- 7 Week First
- 7 Week Second
Why does this matter? As a student, you're responsible for being aware of the dates and deadlines that apply to your classes and your session.
