$14.5 Million in Orders Awarded to dB Control |
Last week, dB Control announced securing six contracts totaling $14.5 million for TWT amplifiers (TWTAs), high-voltage power supplies (HVPS), and microwave power modules (MPMs). These products will enhance secure electronic warfare (EW) applications, improving military capabilities in managing the electromagnetic spectrum and countering threats
The contracts details include:
-
TWTAs for EW Training and Threat Simulation: $6.2 million for various training and simulation applications.
- TWTAs for Ground-Based EW: $3.7 million for multiple band TWTAs.
- MPMs, TWTAs, and HVPS for Foreign EW Systems: $4.6 million, including wideband pulsed MPMs and custom HVPS for international military projects.
Our TWTAs cover a broad frequency range (2 to 40 GHz), while MPMs combine advanced technologies for efficient power delivery (2 to 45.5 GHz). The HVPS are tailored to meet strict size, weight, and power (SWaP) requirements. dB Control’s robust manufacturing and testing processes ensure reliability for military operations. Additional product specifications are available in our Datasheet Library. Click to read full announcement.

5 Tips for Selecting a Test System Provider for EW Equipment Designs |
Designing and testing electronic warfare (EW) equipment, like radar simulation systems, is critical for ensuring effectiveness and safety. Engineers face challenges related to technical demands, in-house capabilities, and costs, making accurate and reliable test equipment essential. Key challenges in radar simulation include achieving rapid and stable transmitter frequency set-on times (e.g., 1-microsecond set-on time, 1-millisecond frequency stability) and accurate receiver frequency measurements (e.g., 100 nanoseconds with 1 megahertz accuracy). Developing these systems in-house can be complex and costly, often revealing difficulties late in the process, particularly with size, weight, and power (SWaP) constraints. Choosing the right test equipment involves selecting frequency-locked oscillators (FLOs), voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs), and synthesizers, each with different benefits. System control elements such as antenna control units (ACUs) and digital control units (DCUs) are also crucial in managing and measuring signal performance. Read the Full White Paper.

The Millimeter-Wave Spectrum: A Critical Asset for Defense |
The millimeter-wave (MMW) spectrum has long presented challenges for military applications due to high atmospheric attenuation and limited technology. However, recent advancements in semiconductor technology, driven by 5G, have renewed interest in MMW frequencies, enabling applications in high-resolution radar, secure communications, and electronic warfare. MMW technology offers unique advantages, such as lower attenuation at certain frequencies, making it suitable for UAV control, real-time intelligence, and advanced imaging systems. Current developments include the Army's use of Wi-Gig for secure communications and DARPA's MIDAS program for enhanced digital arrays. MMW radar systems provide precise detection for missile defense and urban scenarios, while also improving stealth capabilities.
