BASEBALL SPLITS WEEKEND GAMES
COMETS DEFEAT OH...LOSE TO CRUSADERS
Mason completed the sweep of Oak Hills Friday night, beating the Highlanders 8-1. The story of the game was the pitching of senior Bryce Brannon. Brannon took a perfect game into the 7th inning. A single in the bottom of the 7th spoiled the no-hit, perfect game bid. Conor Eggleton came on in relief in the 7th to close it out. The offense was led by Jake Hanley who had two doubles and two RBI. Grant O'Connor had a key pinch-hit single in the fifth inning scoring two runs. Drew Jonson also had two hits to help pace the Comets.
------------
The Comets dropped a heartbreaker to Moeller Saturday night losing 7-5 in 10 innings at Prasco. Mason scored 5 runs in the first three frames but it wasn't enough as the Crusaders chipped away until they tied the game in the 6th inning.
The game went into extra innings and neither team could push across the winning run until Moeller scored two unearned runs in the top of the 10th. Mason tried to rally getting the tying run to second base in the bottom of the inning but couldn't get him across the plate.
Jake Hanely went 2 for four with a triple and was the starting pitcher going four innings. Ben Hanley and Michael Bilo pitched in relief each throwing three innings. Other key offensive performers were Anthony Sulek, Drew Johnson, and Alex Koelling.
Mason (14-2, 10-0) visits Middletown TODAY, Monday 4/22 as they return to GMC game action.
