Description:
2021 was one of the deadliest years on record for gun violence in the U.S. with 44,994 deaths and 40,562 injuries. But the trauma of gun violence doesn’t end when the shooting stops.
Survivors can't escape the mental health impact that haunts them every day. To affect change within a population that’s become desensitized to gun violence, we needed to make that trauma visceral. So we created a chilling horror story using immersive sound design.
And on June 3rd, National Gun Violence Awareness Day, we hijacked the popular Disturbed: True Horror Stories Podcast. We surprised listeners with a truly terrifying story inspired by a real shooting and the teenager who was emotionally—and physically—scarred by her experience.
We inspired listeners to take action and provided resources to support survivors. We know the fight against gun violence isn't over, but with one story, we can turn lasting trauma into lasting change.
