STS Honors Informational Session

Tuesday, February 20, 2024, 4:30 - 5:30 PM
Lane History Corner, Building 200, Room 034
STS will be hosting another workshop about our honors program for prospective students looking to be a part of the program in the near future. Students do not have to be a declared STS major to be in our honors program, as long as they have an interest in pursuing and presenting research within the field. The workshop will be presented by STS Associate Director Dr. Kyoko Sato. Come learn about designing a productive project, writing a strong proposal, and applying for a grant to pursue your own research!

Global Dialogues: Indigenous Data Sovereignty

Friday, February 23, 2024, 12:00 PM
Virtual

Indigenous Data Sovereignty, the right of Indigenous peoples to govern the collection, ownership, and application of data about Indigenous communities, peoples, lands, and resources, has emerged in the past decade as a double-edged sword. On one hand, it gives scope for development opportunities that reflect Indigenous aspirations; on the other, it cannot easily be disentangled from considerable baggage linked to colonialism and its discrepant experience and knowledge. Join Stanford Global Studies for a webinar that will consider case studies from different parts of the world, highlighting best practices and mapping out productive approaches.

Bing Overseas Studies Program

Regardless of the academic path you choose, you will be enriched by your journey in one of our study away programs. Your time with the Bing Overseas Studies Program (BOSP) will equip you with transformative educational experiences that inspire you to embrace new challenges in complex global settings. Nearly one-half of each graduating class studies away through BOSP during their undergraduate career at Stanford. BOSP has announced important changes to the application process for Autumn 2024-25. Among the changes, applicants can apply to up to three programs and there will only be one round of applications. Use their comparison chart to learn more about the quarter-length program's academic components, prerequisites, housing models, and more.
