| The Office of Talent, Culture, and Engagement has created the Employee Emergency Fund (EEF) to provide short-term assistance for employees experiencing significant temporary financial hardship. This fund will help eligible employees cover basic needs. If you would like to make a contribution to the EEF, donations can be made through automatic payroll deduction or online through the EEF giving website.

| Temporary road closure near Maverick Stadium
|
The Office of Facilities Management has scheduled the temporary closure of the road adjacent to Studio Arts and Maverick Stadium’s east side. The road closure, set for tomorrow, Tuesday Feb. 13, 7 a.m.-7 p.m., is necessary to facilitate the operation of a mobile crane, which will be utilized to replace an air conditioning unit. During this time, personnel will be stationed to monitor and direct pedestrian traffic.

| Disability Employee Network launch

| From 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, the UTA Veterans Business Outreach Center is hosting its Third Thursday Think Tank event that is open to the local community, all UTA employees, and students interested in entrepreneurship and business ownership. Guest speaker Tim Ackermann, Navy veteran and lawyer at the Ackermann Law Firm, will discuss intellectual property basics for business owners. In-person attendance for this workshop will be located at the UTA College of Business, Room 609, and virtual attendance will be available via Microsoft Teams. Registration is required.

Attend the third Town Hall meeting to discuss the renovation of the Life Science Building, Friday, Feb. 23, 1:30-2:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in person at the Social Work/College of Nursing and Health Innovation Smart Hospital building, Room 225, and also via Microsoft Teams.

| Building Emergency Safety Team
|
To provide a safe environment for UTA students, faculty, staff, and guests, the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has created the Building Emergency Safety Team (BEST) program. OEM is asking deans, directors, and department heads to appoint a primary BEST program coordinator, who will serve as the point of contact for a unit, department, or building in the area of emergency preparedness and safety. | UTA Network security enforcement coming soon
|
Beginning Monday, Feb. 26, OIT will enable network security enforcement on all UTA-owned devices as part of a network access control (NAC) project. Devices that do not meet security compliance standards cannot access UTA resources. The enforcement rollout will be completed in two phases – all wired devices first, then wireless. The enforcement schedule is posted on the NAC project site. If your device will be impacted, you will receive a pop-up message approximately one week in advance. Personal and remote devices will not be affected.

| Faculty and staff from Hispanic-Serving Institutions are invited to apply to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) E. Kika De La Garza Fellowship Program. Participants will spend one to two weeks at USDA headquarters in Washington, D.C. learning about the many federal resources available to support their students and institutions. Applications are due Monday March 4.
