A “BOLD” Approach to Diversifying the Prevention Workforce |
As we begin 2024 with celebrations and awareness of Martin Luther King Day and Black History Month, this PTTC Post highlights the PTTC Network’s BOLD Prevention Fellowship Program and its contributions to increasing the number of prevention professionals working within Black/African American Communities.
The PTTC Network's BOLD Fellowship Program
The Building Our Leadership and Diversity (BOLD) Prevention Fellowship Program was funded by SAMHSA and operated by the PTTC Network and the PTTC Regional Sites. The BOLD Fellowship program focused on increasing the number of prevention professionals working within Black/African American communities and building their capacity to identify and chronicle programs, practices, and policies proven effective in reducing substance misuse risk factors and consequences and promoting mental health and protective factors or assets in Black/African American communities. The BOLD fellows received mentorship from prevention staff in a state, territory, jurisdiction, national organization, and/or federally recognized tribe or other American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN/) community associated with their placement and were exposed to the day-to-day workings of the site.

Resolving the Fidelity-Adaptation Dilemma and Implementation Strategies |
January 18th, 3:00-4:00 pm ET
Join the PTTC Implementation Science Working Group for a webinar that addresses a common overarching question in prevention: "how can an evidence-based intervention (EBI) be delivered with fidelity to its scientific components, while also responding effectively to changing real-word conditions?” Mindful of the public health adage, “one size doesn’t fit all,” how can intervention delivery staff respond effectively to these conflicting demands? This session will summarize major challenges and their resolution as illustrated by the “Fidelity-Adaptation Dilemma.” A general prevention science goal is to effectively disseminate, adopt, implement, improve, and sustain relevant EBIs to benefit residents from a local community. Strategies for addressing this dilemma across diverse real-world settings will be discussed.
This webinar is designed to compliment the Implementation Science Work Group's four-module course on selecting evidence-based programs and interventions, available on HealthEKnowledge. It is recommended that participants are familiar with the contents of that course prior to attending this webinar, but not required.
