Oral Health Matters

Partners For Kids’ very own, Beau Myer, DDS, MPH, was featured on a recent episode of the Oral Health Matters podcast, hosted by Karlynn Sievers, MD. During the episode, Dr. Myer explains how a minimally invasive liquid arrests dental caries through antibacterial action and fluoride-driven remineralization, making it especially valuable in pediatrics, school-based programs, long-term care and communities with limited dental access.

Don’t Miss the Upcoming Primary Care Education Series 

Registration is now open for the upcoming primary care education series titled, “What's Under Your Skin? Dermatologic Presentations in Pediatrics.” The session will take place on Thursday, April 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Livingston Ambulatory Center (380 Butterfly Gardens Drive) or virtually.

 

The expert panel will discuss scenario-based cases, highlight knowledge gaps and make recommendations about appropriate interventions. 

 

Registration is open to all primary care providers in Central Ohio and beyond. Dinner and parking accommodations will be provided for those who attend in-person. CE Credits will also be available.

Updated Constipation Management Toolkit for Primary Care 

Partners for Kids recently updated the Constipation Toolkit for Primary Care. This resource offers tools for providers and patients, including prescribing guidelines, educational webinars, helpful handouts and more.  For any questions about Partners For Kids coverage resources, please contact PFKPharmacy@childrensdayton.org.

Constipation & Asthma Education with Partners for Kids Clinical Educator  

Partners for Kids offers in-person education sessions for primary care providers around the topics of constipation and asthma. These comprehensive education sessions focus on evidence-based practices and current treatment protocols. Practices will also get resources to use in their day-to-day patient communication and long-term care.

  • Constipation Education: Helps primary care providers reduce health care visits from children with functional constipation who are older than one year. 
  • Asthma Education: Helps primary care providers improve outcomes for children with asthma, including education on the assessment, management and treatment of asthma.

Dayton Children’s Psychiatry Launches Office Hours  

The Psychiatry Department at Dayton Children’s Hospital will host Office Hours. This meeting series has a structured approach with the intention to support conversation all the while educating on real scenarios within the mental health field. All sessions will be held on Thursdays from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. The next session will be on March 26.

Resources from February’s Behavioral Health Training

During the webinar, “Navigating Treatment with System Involved Youth and Caregivers,” attendees discussed the impact of foster care placement on youth, as well as techniques and confidence in working with youth in foster care. Attendees also improved their understanding of the foster care system as it relates to therapy.
