Support for Instructor Teaching Needs

Here’s hoping your first week of classes was exciting and productive! Please refer to our Semester Startup Newsletter for information about syllabi, policies, resources, and more.

This week’s storms did not result in any University-wide cancellations, but there are more storms on the horizon. The university has issued extreme weather event guidance for instructors; in general, we recommend caution and compassion when unexpected events arise.

As you get deeper into the semester, don’t forget that there are resources in the Marriott Library Faculty Center here to support you –the Center for Teaching Excellence and Digital Learning Technologies, as well as Utah Connected Learning and the University Testing Center are located there! Since most teaching support requests tend to come to CTE and Digital Learning, we developed the below infographic to help you understand who to contact, how, and for what.

Kahlert Scholars Seeking Mentors

About Kahlert Scholars:  The Kahlert Scholars Program is a program within the business school for students of any major to gain a digital literacy certificate. Accepted students get scholarships for participating in tech classes and are invited to attend company visits, guest speeches, competitions, and workshops including our upcoming research workshop. The majority of our students (Kahlert Scholars) study in the business school. However, we are an interdisciplinary program with students from all across campus.

About/Purpose of the workshop:  This year, we are incorporating research into our program by hosting a research workshop each semester. Our goal for these workshops is to help students learn about research and discover how they can get involved. An OUR rep will attend to talk about UROP and SPUR. We hope to recruit faculty currently conducting research and would be interested in student assistance. Participating faculty would attend the workshop, speak on a panel about their current research questions and process, and meet and greet with students interested in research. Overall, we hope to introduce the research process to our Kahlert Scholars and to pair students’ and professors' research interests.

Logistics:  The workshop is January 23rd at 2:30 PM in KV 1120.  Please have faculty who have interest or questions contact the student research coordinator,  at u1311638@umail.com
