BREAKING: Kage To KUBL

Former iHeartMedia KWBL/Denver PD John E Kage has joined Cumulus KUBL/ Salt Lake City as PD, succeeding Travis Daily, who was recently named PD for sisters WKDF & WSM-FM/Nashville (CAT 4/1). Kage departed KWBL in March (CAT 3/20). Prior stops include Country KYGO/Denver and Top 40 WPOI/Tampa. Cumulus/Salt Lake City OM Chris Hoffman says, "John’s passion for country music and love of the Mountain West lifestyle make him a perfect fit for Utah.”

Gone And Dunn It: Former Cumulus/Boise Dir./Marketing and Country KIZN midday host Tori Dunn has joined Cumulus KATM/Modesto as morning co-host and Dir./Promotions. The roles had been held by Joe Castelan until his move to sister KSKS/Fresno last July (CAT 7/23/23). In mornings, she joins incumbents D.J. Walker and Jaimee Lee. Dunn spent a year in Boise (CAT 9/11/23) following four years in promotions at Hubbard/Seattle and then-Entercom/Seattle; she was also a CRS 2023 scholarship winner. Reach her here.

Boise Gets A Fourth: Lotus Classic Hits KTHI/Boise flipped to Classic Country "Hank FM" at noon MT. This is the third Lotus station to adopt the jockless Hank FM format and branding in as many months, joining KXZZ/Reno (CAT 3/26) and KPLZ/Seattle (CAT 4/1); the privately owned 46-station company previously did not operate any Country outlets. KTHI becomes the fourth Boise Country station, joining market leader Iliad KQBL, Townsquare KAWO and Cumulus KIZN which totaled 11.5 shares in the Fall Nielsen survey (CAT 1/19). The year-long mentorship will expose Weaver to "the best minds in the business through personalized conversations, connections, and opportunities aimed at growing [her] leadership and management positions in Country radio," according to MIW. It also provides her with the opportunity to attend CRS 2025.

Chronicle: Cumulus/Savannah, GM OM Gary Shelton (a.k.a. "DJ Rax,") whose oversight included WJCL, passed away May 1. He was 49. Shelton spent time in Alexandria, LA; Tupelo, MS and Memphis before joining the Savannah cluster in 2018 and was elevated to OM last year. No word on services.
