MAGNIFY | Fall Events at Gamecock Park
| |
The 2025 Alumni and Dean's Awards Ceremony was held earlier this month on Friday, October 3, in the heart of Gamecock Park. This event was the first of its kind for the School of Medicine, as the lawn adjacent to the Jerri and Steve Spurrier Indoor Practice Facility was transformed into a peaceful evening soiree under a tent strung with cafe lights that included seasonal florals, high-end textiles, classic shrimp & grits, and Williams-Brice Stadium as its backdrop.
Seventeen individuals were honored with awards by Interim Dean Gerald Harmon, MD, with presenting remarks from Senior Associate Dean, Caughman Taylor, MD ('83), Alumni Association President, Ann Marie P. Ravindran, MD ('09), Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration, Derek Payne, and Assistant Professor and Chair of the Women in Science and Medicine Committee, Kiesha Wilson, PhD. Additionally, Dean Emeritus Les Hall, MD, and his wife, Rose Ann, were welcomed back to unveil his commemorative portrait, which will be featured at the VA campus with other past deans.

| On October 18 prior to the USC vs. Oklahoma football game, we held our annual SOMC Alumni Tailgate in partnership with the USC Alumni Association and Gamecock Club to create a complimentary Gamecock festive experience for our nearly 50 alumni guests and families.
Conveniently located in Gamecock Park, and steps away from Williams-Brice Stadium, our alumni were gifted SOMC swag and enjoyed perfect fall weather, a buffet breakfast, remarks from President Michael Amiridis, an exciting view of the football team's Gamecock Walk, and a spirited performance from the Mighty Sound of the Southeast.
