Important Information for Students
Who Earned Incomplete Grades in Fall 2024 or Winter 2025 |
Greetings students,
If you are receiving this message, during the Fall 2024 or Winter 2025 semester, you received one or more incomplete grades from your professor(s) due to missing assignments or requirements needed to earn a final grade in the course. You still have the opportunity to complete the coursework and receive a final grade.
Here are the initial steps to resolve your incomplete grade(s):
|
-
Review GothicNet or Contact the Registrar’s Office: Identify the course(s) in which you received an incomplete grade. At the end of this communication, we have provided a visual guide which demonstrates how to view your grades.
-
Contact Your Course Instructor: Obtain their email address through the NJCU email directory, the course syllabus, or Blackboard. You may also stop by the academic department to ask about the instructor's office hours.
- Request a List of Missing Coursework: Ask your instructor for details on any assignments or requirements you still need to complete.
- Complete and Submit All Missing Assignments/Requirements: Fulfill any outstanding coursework as directed by your instructor.
|
After you have submitted all missing assignments and requirements as directed by your instructor, they will:
|
-
Review and Grade the Submitted Work: Evaluate and assign grades to the completed assignments.
- Process a Grade Change: Update your record to reflect the final grade earned in the course.
|
The IN grade will be updated to reflect the final grade on your official transcript once all requirements are submitted. It is important to contact your instructor promptly. In accordance with NJCU’s Grade System, students have one academic semester (excluding summer or winter sessions) to complete and submit all missing requirements. If you do not fulfill these requirements within that timeframe, your grade will automatically convert to a FI, which will be calculated as an F in your cumulative GPA.
NJCU provides a range of support services to assist you, including 24/7 virtual tutoring via Tutor.com. In-person tutoring for English is available at the Writing Center, while academic support for other subjects is offered in The Learning Commons on the first floor of the Guarini Library. Additionally, the Division of Student Development and Community Engagement offers various resources and services to support your success.
