In addition, Dr. Deike is no stranger to CSU. He previously served as our Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success before departing in 2020 to establish his own consulting firm. His return is a reflection of his deep interest in helping this campus community advance the mission of CSU.
In his career, Dr. Deike has played a key role in major projects focused on student opportunity, including developing institutional programs and policies to support access, affordability and student success, establishing campuses in Shanghai and Abu Dhabi, and traveling to Asia to meet with government and education officials to establish partnerships with U.S. universities. He has also had extensive experience assisting institutions in sharing their stories through strategic communication that defines and articulates the value proposition of an education.
“I completed my bachelor’s, graduate and doctoral degrees later in life than may be considered ‘typical,’” Dr. Deike says. “As a result of my background and experience, my passion for fostering access, affordability and inclusion is one of my defining personal characteristics. I know from personal experience the challenges families face in considering a college education, especially the families of underrepresented students. I also understand, and have experienced for myself, the life-altering, generational benefits of an education and how complicated the journey can be. I am excited to be returning to the CSU community.”
In my conversations with Randy during this search process, he has expressed great enthusiasm for CSU’s mission of serving students with roots in Northeast Ohio and big aspirations for their future. I know that CSU will make great strides thanks to his collaborative leadership style and his focus on positive experiences and outcomes for our students as key measures of success. Our students will benefit from his analytic approach to enrollment strategy and his innovative thinking as we move forward.
I hope you will join me in welcoming Randy Deike back to CSU this fall.
