Asia-Pacific Region

Mongolia

Mongolia, once a great Eurasian empire under the leadership of Chinggis Khaan in the 13th century, broke into smaller Mongol states in the 14th century. The Mongols eventually returned to their original steppe homelands (grassy hillside plains) in the 17th century and have come under Chinese rule several times since then. Mongolia declared its independence in 1911, though it has often been unstable. Mongolia is one of the least densely populated countries in the world. The Church of the Nazarene established work in Mongolia in 2017.

Annual Holiness Gathering in Mongolia Strengthens Faith

Imagine being part of something that not only transforms lives but also strengthens an entire community of believers. The annual Holiness Gathering in Mongolia is doing just that.

The gathering is more than just a retreat—it's a time for Nazarenes from across the country to come together, connect with one another, and grow in their faith. Over four days, more than 300 participants worship, learn, and build relationships, all while being equipped to live as Christlike disciples in their communities.

This event has a deep impact on those who attend. For many, it becomes a life-changing experience. Bayantug, a participant, shared "Before the Holiness Gathering, Christianity seemed confusing to me. But the teachings were simple and clear, and I realized that God is always there for me, guiding me to live the right way. I’m grateful to have found his purpose in my life.”

For Izilltogtokh, a church leader, the gathering brought a new understanding of God’s grace. "At first, I wasn’t comfortable with the term ‘Holiness Gathering,’ but after attending, I realized that even though we are sinners, God calls us to live sanctified lives through his grace. We are precious to him.”

The Holiness Gathering is just one example of the many ways Churches of the Nazarene grow around the world. With a focus on developing and resourcing church leaders, pioneering new church outreach, and church planting initiatives, the mission of the church is to make Christlike disciples in all nations. All generations are encouraged to attend, and God is working in the hearts of children and youth, bringing growth in their understanding of Nazarene identity and scriptural holiness.
