Previous Move-In Day at West Hall

Student volunteers needed for Residence Life Move-In Day

Volunteer for Move-In Day to help welcome students to their new on-campus homes. Move-In Day will be 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15. Volunteers will move personal items into new students' rooms in the residence halls and receive a free volunteer T-shirt! Sign up for two-hour shifts by Monday, Aug. 12, 5 p.m.

Waffleopolis, a long-standing Maverick Stampede welcome week tradition, will be held Wednesday, Aug. 21, 8-10 p.m. in Brazos Park and the University Center Mall. Bring your friends to this fun, memorable night and enjoy a waffle bar with toppings.

Oozeball, voted “most popular tradition on campus,” is a mud volleyball tournament that occurs annually in September. On Friday, Sept. 20, teams of six players will battle it out in the muddy volleyball courts on the corner of Summit Avenue and Greek Row to determine the Oozeball champion.

IRB mini conference, register now

IRB Mini Conference

If you conduct human subject research or would like to know more about the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process, attend the IRB Mini Conference virtually on Thursday, Aug. 29, from 1-4 p.m. Topics will include human-subject research, informed consent and recruitment, preparing an IRB submission, IRB review, and protecting human subjects' electronic data. Faculty, staff, and students are welcome. Register now.

Global Insight, McDowell Center, UTA libraries

Submit a paper to Global Insight

UTA’s undergraduate academic journal Global Insight: A Journal of Critical Human Science and Culture is taking submissions for undergraduate papers. Global Insight is looking for papers between 3,000 and 4,000 words exploring social, political, ethical, cultural, and other timely topics in modern society. Global Insight is an open-access, peer-reviewed, undergraduate research journal co-published by UTA Libraries and the McDowell Center for Global Studies. Submit a paper by Sept. 1 for the fall 2024 issue.
