Tornado Outbreak: A severe weather outbreak spawned devastating tornadoes across the central plains Friday (4/25) and Saturday (4/26). Eastern Nebraska bore the brunt of Friday's storms. Alpha KZKX/Lincoln OM Rob Kelley tells Country Aircheck, "We were on the air simulcast on all six of our signals from the first signs of the outbreak until it passed into Iowa." Crosstown NRG KFGE simulcast coverage from sister News-Talk KLIN-AM.
HeartMedia KXKT/Omaha PD Hoss Michaels helped anchor coverage on sister News-Talk KFAB, which aired across all five of that cluster's stations, and says it was a close call for morning co-host Gina Melton, "The tornado lifted and went directly over her house; she’s okay." KXKT has set up a web page with local donation and volunteering resources here.
Belting Bronco/Warner/WMN's Zach Bryan, who is playing the first of two shows in Omaha tonight (4/29), was spotted in the city helping with cleanup. "I am so sorry to anyone that is having to deal with picking up the pieces of their homes and their lives," Bryan posted on social media. "Without taking credit from the thousands of people lending a hand who have roots here, we love you so much and we’ll do all we can to help." Local coverage here.
