Then continue the celebration with Spirit Day festivities, complete with a vendor fair and free lunch from Fuzzy's Tacos.

Educating schoolchildren about the solar eclipse
|
Thanks to a $50,000 National Science Foundation grant, UTA faculty and graduate students are visiting elementary, middle, and high schools in the DFW area in March to give talks explaining the natural phenomena occurring during the eclipse and the physics behind it. The grant will also provide about 1,500 students with field trips to the UTA Planetarium.

The UTA women's basketball team will begin its Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Tournament at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on Wednesday, March 13, at 2 p.m. and the UTA men's basketball team will begin its WAC Tournament at the same location on Thursday, March 14, at 10:30 p.m. Watch the Mavs score their way to victory in the quarterfinals on ESPN+.

| Learning how to combat vehicle theft
|
The Arlington Police Department urges anyone with a Kia or Hyundai with a turn-to-start ignition to attend an event that offers free software updates for theft prevention. The event will be Saturday, March 16, 9 a.m-4 p.m. at Dan Dipert Career and Technical Center, 2101 Browning Drive in Arlington. The update will raise the level of difficulty for stealing vehicles via the “Kia Challenge” that went viral on social media.

Remind students to take the Exit Survey

Students graduating this semester who take the 15-minute Exit Survey will have a huge impact on UTA's future. Students will receive an invitation from gradteam@uta.edu with the link to the survey. The link will also be available in Canvas. The Exit Surveys provide data on overall student satisfaction with the services and opportunities provided by UTA, satisfaction with their colleges and programs, and thoughts on how those can be improved. The survey will be available until Friday, May 31.

UTA Network security enforcement
|
OIT is enabling network security enforcement on all UTA-owned and -managed Windows and Mac devices connected to the UTA campus network over the next two months. This work is part of the Network Access Control project. Enforcement will be conducted building by building as outlined in the enforcement schedule. Devices that do not meet security compliance standards will be quarantined and unable to access UTA resources. If your device is impacted, you will receive a pop-up approximately one week in advance.
