Off-Campus Living

In this week's newsletter, our office is highlighting off-campus living for international students. See the information below about off-campus housing, as well as upcoming workshops and social events. If you have questions related to immigration, you can email ISSS or schedule an appointment with your ISSS adviser.

Off-Campus Resources

If you are interested in renting an apartment in the Bay Area, the Office for Off-Campus Living (OCL) offers resources to assist you in your search. You can review rental listings on the USF rental website or research rental options using the OCL Resource web page. This is a free resource available for USF students. OCL also hosts one-on-one coaching, so if you are looking to talk to someone about your housing search, please sign up for an appointment today. Also, check out the Off-Campus Housing Instagram, as it has tons of resources and spotlights available apartments.

Many international students do not have a Social Security Number, and a landlord or company may want more proof of financial ability before agreeing to a lease or contract. ISSS has prepared the Vendor Letter that you can download, print, and show as evidence of your financial solvency. Learn more »

Last Chance for Internships

It's not too late to find a summer internship! At this event, you'll learn the best resources to find thousands of available internships in a wide variety of fields. You'll also learn how to utilize USF alumni from your major and/or field of interest in looking for a last-minute internship.

Mending Workshop with SCRAP

Tuesday, April 16 | 11:45 a.m.–12:35 p.m.
Lo Schiavo – Room 103

Learn how to give your damaged clothes a new life with the help of wonderful upcycling resources in our community! Take home a free sewing kit that you can use to repair all of your damaged clothes. Materials will be provided by SCRAP, a local reuse arts education nonprofit.

Jewelry Making Workshop

Dive into the world of sustainable fashion as you transform recycled materials into stunning jewelry pieces. Let your creativity shine as you craft unique bracelets, necklaces, and earrings while making a positive impact on the environment. All materials provided are cleaned.

ISSS OFFICE RESOURCES

Requesting a Document from ISSS?

If you are requesting an immigration document or letter from our office, remember that we request ten business days to process requests. Make sure you plan accordingly so you have enough time to receive your document before you need it. All ISSS requests should be submitted through the MyISSS student portal (log into your MyISSS account, go to Requests & Documents, and select the appropriate icon on the right side of the page). You can view our MyISSS Student Handbook for assistance with your submission.

Click the Chat with ISSS button on the bottom, right corner of the ISSS website, and the ISSS team can assist you with your inquiry.

Adviser Appointments and Workshops

Appointments can be made online. Please visit the ISSS website to schedule an appointment. Appointments are booked in 20-minute increments. To schedule a workshop, select workshops from the first menu option in our scheduler. Students must complete an OPT workshop before applying for OPT.
