| 📢 Our July FlashVote survey results are in
Here's what your neighbors said about the Georgetown Police Department:
👮 71 percent of responders said they had no interaction with GPD in the past 12 months. Of those who reported interactions with the police, 96 percent said they felt they were treated professionally. 🤝GPD hosts several community events every year and will continue to find ways to connect with the community.
🙏 92 percent of responders express trust in Georgetown Police—thank you! We also saw positive shifts in trust over the past year with 14 percent saying they trust GPD a little or a lot more now and 77 percent reporting no change in the level of trust.
👉 21 percent of responders provided suggestions about how the department could increase community trust including:
💙stronger community engagement
💙increased visibility
💙improved traffic enforcement
💙more attention to marginalized or underserved communities such as the unhoused, race relations, and increased neighborhood patrols
🤩 Our favorite takeaway: Georgetown Police has strong community support. We love taking care of our community and are glad to hear you trust us too!

Sirens tested Saturday
📣 REMINDER: Outdoor warning sirens will be tested at ⏰ 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2. There is a chance for rain that afternoon: Please look to the National Weather Service for forecast updates.
Sirens are tested:
📅 1st Saturday of the month
🖼️ When there is no threat of inclement weather
🌪️ The sirens are to alert those who are outside to threats such as a tornado
👋We wanted to call your attention to the text of this monthly article that these outdoor warning sirens are used to warn people who are ☑️outside that they need to ☑️take shelter. We know a lot of people are interested in emergency warning systems following the historic flooding in Central Texas last month. The City is having those conversations, too. Right now, the best way for you to get emergency alerts is to sign up for them at WarnCentralTexas.org and ensure Wireless Emergency Alerts are enabled on your mobile device.

Pet of the Week
Tony is about a year old and was found lost after the Central Texas floods in July. We don’t know what his life was like before he came to the shelter, but we do know this: he’s safe now, and he’s learning that slowly but surely. Shy and reserved at first, Tony warms up with patience—and a few well-timed treats. Volunteers describe him as “easy,” “sweet,” and “gentle,” and they’re dedicated to showing him that people can be kind. With time and love, we know Tony will blossom into a loyal companion. You can meet Tony at the shelter's main campus at 1855 SE Inner Loop. Open daily from noon-6 p.m., no appointment is required! Walk-ins are welcome during open hours: 🕛 noon to 6 p.m. daily 📍Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter | 1855 SE Inner Loop 📍Red Poppy Adoptique | 110 W.L. Walden Drive (dogs only)
