She has a rich academic and professional background and holds a PhD in Landscape Architecture, a master’s in architecture, a bachelor’s in planning and design/architecture, and recently completed a Master’s in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy at the University of Oxford, UK.
Dr. Porter previously held faculty positions at the University of Nottingham, UK, and in Australia at the University of Melbourne and University of Canberra, where she taught, practiced, and led research initiatives in architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design. At Nottingham, she served as Director of Postgraduate Research, overseeing strategy and operations for over 600 graduate researchers.
I’m confident that Dr. Porter’s knowledge and expertise will greatly advance the college’s mission as well as strengthen its strategic initiatives approaching the new year.
I also wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Clifton Ellis for his years of service and leadership guiding the HCOA’s research efforts, and I would also like to thank the search committee, as well as the faculty, staff, and students who participated in the public presentations throughout this important process.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Nicole Porter to the Huckabee College of Architecture as Associate Dean for Research and Innovation and tenured Full Professor.
With gratitude,
