Sacramento State's recent groundbreaking initiatives to promote Black student success, including the Black Honors College, were in the spotlight during the second biennial CSU Juneteenth Symposium, held June 13-14 in downtown Sacramento.
The event, hosted by Sac State, featured speakers and panel discussions that highlighted antiracism work underway across the CSU’s 23 campuses and explored strategies for advancing Black student success. Hundreds attended in person, with thousands more participating virtually.
CSU Chancellor Mildred Garcia highlighted Sac State’s recent accomplishments, including establishing the nation’s first Black Honors College, its appointment as the site of the CSU’s Statewide Central Office for the Advancement of Black Excellence and the leadership of President Luke Wood.
“This is what it means to lead the way in Black student success,” Garcia said.
