NJCU will host its fourth edition of its newly-launched Presidential Fireside Chat Series on Monday, April 7, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. in the Gothic Lounge, featuring Brielle Lewis, the Director of Corporate Sponsorship Strategy at Prudential Financial, Inc., one of the world’s largest financial services firms.
In this role, she spearheads the development, management, and execution of
high-impact corporate sponsorships and activations that align with Prudential’s brand positioning while driving meaningful business outcomes for Prudential and PGIM. She has played a pivotal role in shaping strategic partnerships with the Rose Bowl, Live Nation, Rutgers Basketball, Prudential Center, the New Jersey Devils, and more. Brielle also spearheaded Prudential’s first-ever NIL program, securing groundbreaking partnerships with Rutgers standouts Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey, marking a significant milestone in the company’s sports
marketing efforts. Notably, she is one of the youngest directors in Prudential’s 150-year history.
A proud two-time graduate of Hampton University, Brielle holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and an MBA with a concentration in marketing. She is also an active member of the North Jersey Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., continuing her commitment to leadership and community impact.

Please join us to share your memory of Dr. Maria Lynn; bring your message, photos, and more! A cherry blossom tree has also been planted adjacent to the bench in her memory.
Dr. Lynn (1960–2023), who preferred to go by "Maria" to all, was the epitome of kindness and compassion for everyone who crossed her path. She offered sweets and an intense interest in the struggles of each person's everyday life, whether a top-level administrator or a struggling first-year student. Maria joined the NJCU community in Fall 2002. She was a beloved professor and administrator who dedicated over 20 years of service to NJCU.
Join us in honoring her memory and preserving her legacy with the establishment of the memorial bench on the main NJCU campus.

A retired Special Education Teacher and Jersey City native, Ms. McCray brings a remarkable story of resilience and advocacy. Following her diagnosis with End-Stage Renal Disease in 2015 and a lifesaving kidney transplant, she has become a dedicated advocate for organ and tissue donation. Currently pursuing a Psychology degree at NJCU, Ms. McCray also mentors and volunteers with organizations like the National Kidney Foundation and NJ Sharing Network. Join us for her inspiring keynote speech on perseverance, education, and community impact!

Metamorphosis: 2025 NJCU BFA Thesis Exhibition |
NJCU Galleries are pleased to hold Metamorphosis: 2025 NJCU BFA Thesis Exhibition in both galleries, opening on April 5. With the largest graduating class of 33 students, this year’s BFA exhibition will be split into two cycles. Both cycles will start with a reception on Saturday, April 5 from 3 to 6 p.m. with an Artist Talk on the following Thursdays from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. with the exception of one Artist Talk taking place during the second opening reception on May 3.
Both exhibitions will consist of the wide-ranging subjects and styles in ceramics, graphic design, illustration, painting, and photography. All artists will display their bests, expanding into the space to showcase their metamorphosis from students to emerging professionals. Please come support young talents!

NJCU will host its fifth edition of its newly-launched Presidential Fireside Chat Series on Monday, April 14, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. in the Gothic Lounge, featuring Hudson County Executive Craig Guy.
Born in Weehawken and raised in Jersey City, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy has spent his entire life in Hudson County.
The County Executive has dedicated his life to public service. As a Jersey City police officer for more than 25 years, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant and worked with his brothers and sisters in blue to keep the streets of his hometown safe. During his time with the JCPD, he worked closely with community groups and civic leaders throughout the city to foster good relations between the citizenry and those who are sworn to protect and serve.
As Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief of Staff to his predecessor for 21 years, he worked to improve public education, expand parks and open space, spur economic development, and enhance senior and veterans’ services. He led critical efforts at the County level reduce the proliferation of illegal firearms and headed the Hudson County COVID-19 vaccine task force that developed the County’s innovative mass vaccination site at the USS Juneau Center in Kearny.
As President of Hudson County Schools of Technology Board of Education for 16 years, he spearheaded construction of a new state-of-the-art High Tech High School campus in Secaucus and was a leader in the creation of Liberty Science Center High School, a world-class magnet STEM academy that will be part of SciTech Scity, a major hub of learning and innovation being developed in Jersey City.
County Executive Guy has committed his administration to the goal of extending opportunity for every resident.

Ask. Listen. Refer. is an online suicide prevention training designed to give you the skills to recognize signs of suicide and have a conversation with someone you are concerned about. As we continue to dedicate ourselves to increasing mental health awareness, and suicide prevention efforts, this training is essential for all of our offices. It will take about 15-20 minutes and has very valuable information.

Ask. Listen. Refer. provides a certificate of completion, and also includes a pre and post-test. If you need proof of completion, please connect with me, as I will be able to track its participants. This interactive online suicide prevention program has been shown to increase the ability of students to recognize and respond to peers at risk for suicide.
This is an excellent, convenient program that is a great resource for our division and the campus.

Come celebrate National Poetry Month with Theta Pavis as she reads from her new poetry collection, "The Red Strobe." This fierce book unfolds in a landscape marked with loss. Its sparse, direct, and gorgeous language celebrates survival, daughters, mothers, sisters, and the whiplash of girlhood. "The Red Strobe" bears witness to the labor of caretaking and love. Books will be available for signing and refreshments will be served.

The Lee Hagan Africana Studies Center and BAAFSSO presents our monthly Chat & Chew Series with special guest speaker, Mussab Ali. He is a civic leader, advocate, and trailblazer who became the nation’s youngest Muslim elected official after winning a seat on the Jersey City school board in 2017, and later served as its president. He will help us reflect on the power of purpose, especially in the wake of Ramadan, purpose, faith, and forward movement. Light refreshments will be served.
