The Thanksgiving season invites us to celebrate the many blessings in our lives. Amid the noise and conflict that often surround us, I hope that you can spend valuable time with your student and other loved ones. This time of year serves as a reminder of the importance of unity and kindness, which fosters a productive and inclusive environment for everyone.
I truly appreciate the trust you have shown in us and everything you do to ensure that your learner feels included, cared for and encouraged to pursue their dreams. We have much to celebrate together and in the coming months, I’ll share some of the incredible student successes that are happening here, helping you understand the impact and relevance of GVSU. But for now, I wish you a safe and restful holiday filled with family, friends and relaxation!

The online scholarship database, myScholarships, is now open for the 2025-2026 academic year! Most scholarship deadlines fall between Feb. 15 and March 1. If your student has questions, encourage them to email the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships at scholarships@gvsu.edu. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2025-2026 academic year will open Dec. 1. If you are new to filing a FAFSA, you can create your FSA ID now to make the process easier once the application opens. Lakers can connect with financial aid counselors if they have questions regarding their aid or FAFSA completion by phone, email or during drop-in hours 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Winter semester bills will be emailed to students by Nov. 13. Students can log in to their myBanner account to view their e-bill and make payment arrangements. The payment deadline for winter semester tuition is Friday, Dec. 13 at 5 p.m.
