ONE WEEK UNTIL GOVERNMENT FUNDING RUNS OUT
Lawmakers both in the House and the Senate are working towards reaching a continuing resolution (CR) to avoid a government shutdown starting next week. This past Sunday, appropriators in both chambers released a 49-page CR that would maintain funding through Dec. 20. If this bill passes in the House, it will then move on to the Senate for approval before appearing on President Joe Biden's desk for his signature.
The House is currently scheduled to vote on the CR on Wednesday. On the Senate side, appropriators are simultaneously working to keep their procedural options open to move forward with their own CR in the event the House bill does not succeed.
