Dear Alumni and Friends,
2023 is off to a roaring good start on campus — from the teaching and learning taking place in our classrooms to the events and initiatives detailed in this month’s CSU Matters.
Thanks to scores of CSU leaders with passionate spirits and creative minds, we’re making significant strides toward our goals of reaching more prospective students, removing barriers to student success and doing more to eliminate racial disparities across our campus and our region.
As we enter Black History Month, I urge all of us to leverage this month-long commemoration as an opportunity to recognize, celebrate and embrace the rich diversity of our community. In doing so, we learn to thrive and live well together.
With the exciting campus developments we’ve seen in just the past few weeks since the start of our spring semester, I am eager for the year ahead. Go Vikes!
Regards,

It was my pleasure to talk with Professor Jearl Walker, whose contributions to CSU and the study of physics worldwide are too many to count. Given his passion for educating everyone, his creativity in approaching questions about physics, and his storied history as both educator and entertainer, I could have talked to him for hours. While in his lab, he shared a few lessons from his Flying Circus of Physics.

CSU and Tri-C Commemorate Dr. King's Legacy
|
Members of the CSU, Tri-C and Greater Cleveland communities gathered on Tri-C's campus for the 32nd annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Brunch. Students from both institutions read essays inspired by Dr. King's quote, "The time is always right to do what is right."
Tri-C President Michael Baston and I also shared our thoughts in an article on cleveland.com on how we can address racial disparities in our region, including access to quality education.

Free Test Prep for Students Pursuing Graduate Programs
|
Since the launch of our Kaplan All Access program last summer, our students have saved over $300,000 in prep fees for graduate-level admission tests. By eliminating these costs, our Office of Career Development & Exploration is supporting our students as they continue their education beyond a bachelor's degree.
