Third Annual Delivering Discoveries: Updates in Oncology

This day-and-a-half conference took place October 17 and 18, 2024 at the picturesque Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines and brought together a multidisciplinary audience of oncology professionals, who included nurses, physicians, researchers, and medical students, for an exploration of the latest advancements in cancer care and research. EDUCATION

 

Pfizer-Cell Signaling San Diego Postdoctoral and Graduate Fellowships 

NO CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Application Deadline: November 4, 2024

These fellowships will support outstanding doctoral or postdoctoral trainees in the area of cell signaling and oncology through training of the awardee and strengthening interactions of Pfizer Oncology and the Cell Signaling San Diego academic community.

 

Successful applicants will receive 1 year of funding, with a 2nd year contingent on satisfactory progress.

 

Awardees will meet twice a year with selected representatives from Cell Signaling San Diego and Pfizer Oncology. The fellowship will be acknowledged in all publications.

 

Applicants being considered for an award will be invited to give a 10-minute presentation to the Review Committee.

 

The Postdoctoral Fellowship provides $80,000 to cover postdoc salary and benefits. The Graduate Fellowship provides $60,000 to cover tuition in full and the balance toward a stipend.

Neighborhood Healthcare Food Distribution and Breast Cancer Prevention and Screening

COE collaborated with Neighborhood Healthcare for their food distribution event on Saturday, October 19, 2024. The event was held as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and COE disseminated essential information on breast cancer prevention and screening.

Research and Evaluation at Community Health Worker (CHW)/Promotores

COE presented to a cohort of CHW/Promotores on research and evaluation. COE emphasized the importance of being pillars of the community and communicating work being done on a daily basis. COE appreciates both the opportunity to present and all that the CHW/Promotores do.
