UTA retains top-tier U.S. research status

UTA has once again earned the prestigious R1 designation from the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, signifying the highest level of research activity. UTA is among just 187 institutions—4.7% nationwide—earning the R1 designation in 2025.

Healthy aging study begins

UTA researchers have launched the Arlington Study of Healthy Aging, which will use advanced imaging, genetics, exercise science, neuroscience, and remote monitoring to investigate age-related health decline. The goal is to help individuals and health care practitioners better prevent the impact of disease on older adults. Learn more.

18th Annual Spirit Day 2025

Spirit Day 

UTA staff are invited to celebrate the 18th Annual Spirit Day with the Staff Advisory Council Wednesday, March 12, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Bluebonnet Ballroom of the University Center. Free lunch from McAlisterʼs Deli will be provided while supplies last. The first 300 attendees will receive a prize at the front door.

Enhanced MavPlanner, MavScheduler, and MavInspire

This spring, enhanced versions of MavPlanner, MavScheduler, and MavInspire will be available at UTA. The enhanced systems will see updated user interfaces and functionality. Leveraging improved technology will put actionable data for engagement and early alerts in the hands of faculty and staff. The tools will also allow staff to effectively assist students with planning a clear path to graduation.

As part of its 130th celebration, UTA is bringing back the Distinguished Alumni Awards. Nominate your favorite Maverick alumni for UTA’s highest distinction. This year’s winners will be honored at an event later in 2025. Be part of Maverick history and submit your nomination by Friday, March 21.

Woman of Influence

LaTasha Williams, UTA alumna and adjunct professor in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, has received recognition for her community engagement and contributions to domestic violence awareness. She is a Woman of Influence honoree for the 2025 class of Great Women of Texas.

Performance evaluations

Annual performance evaluations for staff employees are available in UTShare. Employee self-evaluations are due Tuesday, March 11, and manager evaluations are due Friday, April 11.

Third Thursday Think Tank 

The Veterans Business Outreach Center will host a Third Thursday Think Tank session Thursday, March 20, 6-7:30 p.m. at the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology Development. Speakers from the Career and Internships Hub and the Procurement Department will guide business owners through the process of partnering with UTA to become a registered vendor and provide details on the University’s procurement process. Severe Weather Awareness Week

It is Severe Weather Awareness Week, and the Office of Emergency Management would like to remind you to visit its Hazards and Threats webpage for information on what to do during severe weather events. UTA is part of the StormReady program, which helps equip community leaders and emergency managers with the communication and safety skills needed to save lives and property before, during, and after storms.

The Center for Research on Teaching and Learning Excellence will host Peer Observation Training with Certificate Wednesday, April 2, 1-3 p.m. in Room 105 of Trinity Hall and via Microsoft Teams. Lunch will be provided for in-person attendees. Register now.

Employee Emergency Fund

Emergency assistance 

The Employee Emergency Fund (EEF) provides short-term assistance for employees experiencing significant temporary financial hardship. The fund helps eligible employees cover basic needs. You can donate to EEF through automatic payroll deduction or give a one-time gift.
