Saludos, CLS Community!
With only spring quarter left to go, the CLS team is extremely grateful for the many students who are interested in signing up for the CLS minor. The CLS student representatives and staff always enjoy the time we spend together, and we're delighted to see our large community continue to grow!
We have a few grand events planned out for spring quarter, including another rendition of our Classic CLS Community Hour, Annual Chicano Park Day Field Trip, and our highly anticipated Annual End of the Year Celebration (full details below!) In these upcoming events, the CLS team will be inviting you all to join us as we make the best out of this last quarter of the 2024-2025 academic year!
Help us spread the word about the CLS minor (and our upcoming major!) by encouraging your friends and organizations to sign up for our newsletter!
We look forward to seeing you all at our upcoming events in the spring!
Sincerely,
|
The Chicanx and Latinx Team

Missing/Disappearing Bodies and Forgotten Geographies |
Tuesday, May 6, 2025 | 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. | NTPLL Mosaic Hall 113, Sixth College
On April 30, 1977, 14 mothers in Buenos Aires began protesting the disappearance of their children under military dictator Videla, forming the Mothers and Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo. Around the same time, citizens in Gwangju, South Korea, resisted Chun Doo-hwan’s dictatorship, leading to a massacre. This talk by Dr. Junyoung Verónica Kim explores the shared histories of these events, connecting them through transpacific connections and offering insights into decolonial, demilitarized futures.
