Offering bilingual workshops on college systems, admissions & financial aid, bringing together college & community resources & providing a one of a kind STEM fair!

Comienza con un Sueño 2025 reuine a estudiantes de 6ᐤ a 11ᐤ, familias y educadores en UC San Diego para un evento GRATUITO que celebra cultura, comunidad y conocimiento. ¡Ofrecemos sesiones bilingües sobre los sistemas universitarios, requisitos de admisión y ayuda financiera. La confrerencia reúne recursos universitarios y comunitarios y presenta una feria de STEM exclusiva!

Since 2008, Comienza con un Sueño / It Begins with a Dream has sought to:
1. Increase student and parent knowledge and understanding of college preparation and admissions requirements, testing requirements, financial aid/scholarship availability (FAFSA/Cal Grant), post-secondary options (UC, CSU, CCC, etc...), Career options, UC Personal Statement and UC application requirements.
2. Increase participant knowledge of support programs aimed at retaining students at UC San Diego and promoting advanced degrees.
3. Enhance the relationship between UC San Diego and the Chicanx/Latinx community by increasing the contact and involving members of the community in the planning, implementation and evaluation processes of the event.
Our annual in-person event has reached up to 1,500 students, parents and guardians, and community leaders in past years. All together, our years of planning and programming have greatly impacted the lives of many participants. During the pandemic we had to pivot to an online event format. We once again look forward to providing an in-person event this year and welcoming students and parents back to our campus.
