Pastor Jessica will lead a five-week Lenten series inviting participants to deepen their faith through prayerful, embodied engagement with Scripture. Each session offers an experiential and accessible way to slow down, reflect, and listen for God’s presence through Scripture, music, art, silence, and gentle movement. This group is open to anyone seeking a meaningful Lenten rhythm and a supportive space for reflection as we journey toward Holy Week. Register today!

Faithful Resistance:

A Public United Methodist Witness for Immigrant Justice

On Wednesday, February 25, United Methodist agencies are teaming up to organize an act of faithful resistance and public witness for immigrant justice. The General Boards of Church and Society, Religion and Race, and United Methodist Committee on Relief are participating in an ecumenical and interfaith worship service and witness calling for the humane treatment of immigrants in Washington, D.C. Many of us cannot travel there, but we can share in this act of faith locally. First United Methodist Church of Austin is hosting a satellite event and invites all to participate in an Austin-area witness.

The day will begin with worship, followed by a peaceful procession to the State Capitol for prayer. This is an opportunity to show solidarity for immigrants and call upon Christians everywhere to live out Christ’s call on all of us to “welcome the stranger.”

9:00am – 10:00am | Watch the Opening Worship Service from D.C. together in the FUMC Sanctuary (1201 Lavaca)

10:00am | Peaceful Procession to the Texas Capitol for prayer

Please note: The church parking lot is reserved for those with mobility impairments, our construction crews, and church and preschool staff.

Plan to park in the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage:
1201 San Jacinto Blvd, Austin, Texas 78701.

Wellspring United Methodist Men invite all men and women of the church to attend a potluck lunch following the 11:00 AM service on March 8.  Our guest speaker will be our own Joshua Stewart, High School English/ESL Teacher and Part-time Minister.  Joshua will share his inspiring personal witness teaching English as a second language to a community striving for improvement and acceptance that all people deserve.  Please join us for fellowship and an important message from someone on the front lines helping win hearts.  If you can, please bring a shareable item.  We will set up in Brightwell Place and expect to start with lunch at 12:15 PM.

“Why Did Jesus Have to Die? The Meaning of the Crucifixion” by Adam Hamilton
Despite the crucifixion’s central place in Christian faith, the New Testament offers few clear answers about how Jesus’ death saves, or why, exactly, he had to die. The New Testament writers use a host of metaphors but never explain exactly how it works or why it had to happen this way.
