Talent Show preview with
Halle Browning

Senior Halle Browning is super excited to be one of the four hosts in the CAC talent show this year! She will perform a special opening number at the beginning with her fellow hosts.

“We all do theater together, and I love being able to have a good time
performing with them as just ourselves instead of characters in a play or musical” Halle said.

Taking on the role of a host is a daunting task, especially since you have to memorize everyone's names and what they are performing. Halle says that this can be nerve racking, but she is excited to perform fun dance numbers at the beginning of the show and after intermission.

Halle has been involved with the CAC Drama Department for the past few years. Some of her favorite roles include Sponge in James and the Giant Peach and Miss Hannigan in Annie Jr. this past spring.

“They were really silly and fun, and I loved the songs that I sang for
them,” she said.

One of Halle’s favorite memories from a rehearsal comes from The Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe. Halle played the role of Mrs. Beaver and Olivia Parker (12th) played alongside her as Mr. Beaver. During a scene, Olivia’s tail fell off in the middle of the stage, and she couldn’t get it until the scene was over.

“It was so funny that we could barely get through our lines without laughing, and we still talk about it to this day.”

Performing on a stage in front of others can be overwhelming and scary. Halle gives advice to those with stage fright by saying, “Just know that no one in your audience wants you to fail. They want to cheer you on and see you thrive, and even if you do mess up, most people would recognize that it takes a lot of guts to get up in front of a bunch of people and perform and still have respect for you anyway.”

You can catch Halle Browning in the CAC talent show next Monday, Sept. 16!

Speak Up — Sydney Dare

For this week's edition of Speak Up, Sydney Dare talked about this year's Student Council

The Student Council is working hard on some big and exciting plans for this school year! Sydney, co-president of StuCo says that she wants to make the school year super fun and enjoyable for all students, teachers and administrators. She hopes to make the year very exciting and engaging and to remember to put God first in everything that they do.

Mustang Mania was a new and fun event that the Student Council created. This event replaced The Wave, which was an annual activity that the school used to put on before the pandemic at the former water park down the road, Wild River Country. As for other events, the student council isn’t planning anything too new. “Be expecting us to pull some old memories out of the box,” Sydney said.

Some of Sydney’s favorite school events are Homecoming, Colors Day and Access Gators. Sydney said, “I love how our student body comes together to make these events so special and something we can all cherish forever!”

One of Sydney’s favorite memories is last year's Colors Day. She said that it was so cool to be a part of a new CAC tradition.

“The glow-in-the-dark pep rally is by far my favorite and it is always such a fun day to set up in the gym and see how excited everyone is!”
