Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,
The safety of the UT Health Science Center community is our top priority. Real-time communication during an emergency is critical to ensure your safety. To that end, the university has taken steps to provide our campus community with two solutions offered through RAVE Mobile Safety to enhance your safety and allow for timely communication of events on and around campus:
-
UTHSC Alert: All active UT Health Science Center students and employees are automatically registered to receive UTHSC Alert messages via their UT Health Science Center email and the mobile number listed for them in Banner or IRIS. University administrators and Campus Police utilize this mass notification system to send out pertinent information in the event of an emergency. We will be using this tool more actively to keep you apprised of what is happening on and around campus.
-
RAVE Guardian Mobile App: All active UT Health Science Center students and employees can create a virtual safety network of friends, family, and even Campus Police through the RAVE Guardian mobile app, available for download on Apple and Android devices using your UT Health Science Center email address. This app provides a wide array of tools such as:
- Two-way communication between you and a Campus Police dispatcher via text if you want to submit a tip
-
Safety timers that will alert friends, family, and Campus Police if you have not reached your destination by the designated timeframe that you set, including a GPS feature that will show the dispatcher the route you took
- The ability to call Campus Police with your location set if emergency assistance is needed and you are unable to speak
-
The ability to receive notifications within a set mile radius
We strongly urge everyone to download the Rave Guardian mobile app if you have not already done so.
If you need assistance with our alert systems, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions web page or contact Information Technology Services via TechConnect or 901.448.2222.
