Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,
Your safety is our top priority. UT Health Science Center Campus Police and supporting offices are are diligently monitoring crime in and around the City of Memphis, which inevitably impacts our campus due to our location.
While overall vehicle-related crimes are down, they continue to be an ongoing issue. While our campus had been free of car break-ins for several months, last night, several vehicles were broken into. We take this matter seriously and are working diligently to do everything possible to prevent it from recurring.
Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to park in well-lit areas whenever possible and never leave valuables in plain view inside your vehicle. We suggest that any weapons left in vehicles be secured in a lockbox that is also mounted to the vehicle.
As part of our ongoing efforts to manage these issues, UTHSC Campus Police will increase active patrolling of all areas of campus, specifically the parking lots and garages, along with strategic placement of plain-clothes officers in areas susceptible to such activity. To further enhance safety, we have successfully completed the installation of a new campus-wide emergency phone tower system. This state-of-the-art system ensures that help is just a button press away for anyone in our parking areas. Additionally, our campus fencing project, which aims to enclose all parking areas, is in progress, as is the improvement of security lighting in our parking lots and garages—a critical step toward enhancing visibility and safety during evening hours.

UTHSC Campus Police is accessible 24/7, year-round, and can be reached via phone at 901.448.4444, by utilizing the RAVE Guardian App, or through multiple emergency phone boxes/towers located throughout campus.
