We’re thrilled to announce a brand-new season of youth theatre classes starting this fall! These classes bring an exciting new chapter in Theatrikos’s long-standing commitment to arts education.

Our expanded education program means more classes, more creativity, and more opportunities for young people in Flagstaff to build confidence, express themselves, and discover the joy of live theatre.

From old age to high elf, bring characters to life with the art of stage makeup! In this class we’ll learn how to look your best on stage in a variety of roles, and even try our hand at special effects. From the absolute beginner to a makeup pro there is something to learn for everyone in this class. Makeup will be provided and is included in the cost of class. Please attend each class with a clean, makeup free face.

Improv Exploration is a fun and welcoming introduction to the world of improvisation. Whether you’re looking to boost your confidence, meet creative people, or just have a great time, this class is for you! No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to play, explore, and say “yes, and!”

Take a fun journey through time as we explore dance styles from the past to today! In this class, students will build essential stage dance skills through a traditional format that includes warmups, across-the-floor practice, improvisation, and learning short routines. Each week features a new time period, from the 1900s to the 1980s, using music and moves from that era. We'll explore everything from folk and social dances to jazz, Latin, swing, tap, disco, and early hip hop. Perfect for beginners and dance lovers alike!

Basic, essential dance and movement techniques for actors and the stage!  Individually themed classes include basic ballet, tap, folk, social dances, vintage and traditional jazz moves, kick lines and cancan, Fosse, Robbins (West Side Story). Students will also explore effective warmups, conditioning, and alignment, movement as communication, Laban movement analysis, improv, safe falling techniques, partner work and more!

Creative dance and music for early movers and performers.  Students will learn basic movement skills (warmup moves, walks, skips, jumps, etc.), dancing together, improvisation, using props, and short group dances with an emphasis on gaining confidence with movement, working with others, and performance. Group singing, play acting and vocalizing will be an organic part of the program.
