Friend,
It is hard to believe that we are coming up on our final shows of the 2023 season. It certainly has been a whirlwind and we have had such an amazing group of volunteers share their talents onstage, backstage and in the orchestra pit with the Erie community.
But it’s not over yet! We wind up our season with DISNEY DESCENDANTS, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE (on sale today!) and our NEW YEARS EVE CONCERT celebrating 40 years on 10th Street. I have had the chance to watch our next Youtheatre production and these kids are amazing. The cast for IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE is outstanding, and the performer list for New Years Eve is at 70 and still growing. It's a who’s who in Erie theatre. It is going to be a big finish of this season, and then we start all over again.
As you will hear a lot from us about purchasing season tickets over the next few months, I thought I would share with you something I came across this week in an old scrap book written by our founder Henry B. Vincent:
“The Playhouse is a purely tit-for-tat institution. It gives generously for what it gets, and stands or falls by the pleasure it provides. If you are looking for excellent entertainment at a moderate cost, it deserves consideration.
Life isn’t much without occasional adventure- if it be no more than in the realm of theatre - and a detour to the Playhouse some dark night when a pleasant play is blowing may have the spice of discovery- the discovery of unexpected pleasure. You may be very considerably surprised! You may even get the habit (as have other good people) and so be glad you read this far.”
-- Henry B. Vincent, Erie Playhouse founder
So Mr. Vincent and I hope you will consider purchasing a season ticket (the best way to support us) and I will see you at the theatre.

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE - THE MUSICAL
This heartwarming Christmas classic returns to the Playhouse stage. Based on the beloved 1946 film, this musical faithfully follows George Bailey’s life, from his childhood dreams to his midlife disappointments and beyond, as we journey beside him to discover whether his life has mattered. Cinematically scored and theatrically staged, this adaptation breathes musical life into a familiar story while retaining the original’s warmth, humor, and pathos. A new holiday classic for devotees and newcomers alike.

Now that November is here, and turkey is just around the corner, we find ourselves giving thanks for all the goodness that surrounds us. The goodness begins with our staff! Our facilitators spend countless hours preparing and delivering stories through the arts. So, over the next few months, we are going to meet each one and answer a question about the program:

Meet Tealey Ingram…
Tealey is new to PLAYtime but no stranger to the Erie Playhouse. She first appeared onstage in Scrooge in 2016. It was her first and favorite show because she shared the stage with dad, Ryan Ingram, costume designer for EP! In 2017, she performed in James and the Giant Peach where she met Bruce Yates, fellow PLAYtime facilitator and husband of PLAYtime coordinator Trisha Yates. With Tealey, it’s a family affair and she brings that love of family and the Playhouse with her as she visits her classrooms each day.
So Tealey, What do you do to get ready for PLAYtime each week?
“Each week I visit 33 classrooms and have to prepare 5 different leveled lessons, which could be overwhelming without staying organized! Having order to my many books, props, and lessons plans is key! The trunk of my car has been transformed into my Playtime facilitator storage space. I make sure to reserve plenty of time each week to learn my lessons, songs, and whistle moves! Preparing PLAYtime lessons is a lot of fun and seeing them come to life in the classroom is such a joy!”

And the goodness does not stop there…
We are THANKFUL for our school friends and the beautiful teachers, community directors and administrators who welcome us into their buildings weekly.
We are GRATEFUL for our sponsors who support our programs with kind words and financial support.
We APPRECIATE our homebase, the Erie Playhouse.
