Dear Young Life Africa and Middle East team, 

It is with great joy and deep appreciation that we announce the promotion of Aissata Deborah Samaké to the role of Senior Vice President, Africa West Division, beginning November 1, 2025. Aissata will be stepping into this role previously held by James Mungai Kamau, and we are confident in her ability to lead with vision, wisdom, and strength.

Aissata has been a steadfast and faithful leader within the mission since 2009, when she pioneered Young Life in Mali. Since then, she has exemplified servant leadership, strategic insight, and an unwavering commitment to young people and the gospel. In her most recent role as Vice President for the Francophone Region, Aissata has played a critical part in expanding the mission, mentoring leaders, and building sustainable structures across West Africa.

Her appointment to senior vice president is a recognition of her proven leadership, deep cultural understanding, and passionate dedication to teenagers knowing Jesus. We are excited to see how God will continue to use her to shepherd and empower the growing movement of leaders and ministries across the Africa West Division.
